Banana Cake

 
This is my grandmother's recipe.  So very good and moist.  She used Seven Minute Frosting and then sliced bananas between the layers.

1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
2 eggs
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon soda
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 bananas, mashed
3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
 
Mix dry ingredients together.  Add margarine, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and bananas.  Beat well.  Add nuts.  Bake at 350 deg. 45 minutes.
