2 egg whites, unbeaten
1-1/2 cups sugar
5 tablespoons cold water
1 teaspoon light corn syrup OR 1/8 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Put egg whites, sugar, water, corn syrup, and salt in top of double boiler and mix well. Place over boiling water
and beat constantly with rotary egg beater until mixture holds peak (about 7 minutes, or 3 minutes with mixer). Remove
from hot water; add vanilla and beat until cold. Spread on cake.
