Mexican Cake

2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 well-beaten eggs
1 large can crushed pineapple, undrained
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts
Frosting (recipe follows)
 
Mix sugar, flour, soda, and eggs.  Add pineapple, vanilla, and nuts.  Mix well.  Pour into an ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.  (Do not grease or flour pan.)  Bake at 350 deg. for 35 minutes.  Frost while cake is hot.
 
Frosting
 
1 (8-oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 stick butter or margarine, softened
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
 
Mix all ingredients well.  Spread over hot cake.
