Salt Water Taffy

It's nice to have someone to help you when it comes to pulling taffy.

2 cups sugar
1-1/4 cups white corn syrup
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
Flavoring & coloring desired

Blend sugar, syrup, water and salt in saucepan with wooden spoon. Place over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves. Increase heat and do not stir during rest of cooking. When syrup reaches 265 deg., remove from heat. Add butter and stir gently. Pour onto large buttered platter. Sprinkle with vanilla (1 teaspoon) after it becomes cool. If you want, you may also add color at this time. Flavor and color will work through when pulled.

Pull until candy becomes light in texture and color. Stretch out into lengths and cut into pieces. These should be individually wrapped.
