New Orleans Pralines

2 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup butter
2 cups pecans

Measure sugar, water, and butter in 2 quart saucepan. Stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved and it comes to boil. Put in thermometer and add nuts. Boil, stirring constantly, to 248 deg. Remove from heat. Drop by tablespoons on waxed paper.
