1 box Devil's Food cake mix
1 can cherry pie filling
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix all together. Pour into greased 13x9x2" baking pan. Bake at 350 deg. for 30-35 minutes. While cake is hot, cover with topping.
Combine in saucepan:
1 stick margarine
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 cup sugar
Bring to a low boil and boil one minute. Remove from heat and stir in:
1 6-ounce pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts (see note)
Pour over cake.
*Note: She uses black walnuts. I used English walnuts and it was great.
Note2: I goofed on the icing and only put 1/2 stick butter instead of 1 stick and the icing was still good. Thick, had to spread it, but had texture of fudge. Judy
