Spiced Orange Mold

This is an old recipe from my mother.  Thanks, Mom.

1 (11 oz.) can mardarin orange sections
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 inch cinnamon stick
1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
2 (3 oz.) boxes orange gelatin
2 cups cold water
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Drain oranges.  Reserve syrup and add water to make 1-3/4 cups.  In saucepan, mix syrup, salt, and spices.  Bring to boil; lower heat and simmer, covered, 10 minutes.  Remove cinnamon stick and  cloves.  Stir in gelatin until dissolved.  Add cold water and lemon juice.  Chill until partially set; stir in oranges and nuts.  Chill until firm.
