Strawberry Shortcake


This is a Bisquick recipe.

2-1/3 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 quart strawberries, cut in half and sweetened to taste
Whipped cream (optional)

Heat oven to 425 deg F. Mix ingredients, except strawberries, until soft dough forms. Spread in ungreased square pan 8 x 8 x 2" or round pan, 9 x 1-1/2". Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 10 minutes; cut into serving pieces. Split each piece horizontally. Fill and top each serving with strawberries. Serve with whipped cream if desired. 6 to 8 servings.

Note: For individual shortcakes: After mixing, drop dough by 6 or 8 spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
