Walnut-Applesauce Cookies

1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup whole-wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup applesauce

Mix well flours, baking soda, salt, spices, raisins and walnuts; set aside.

In large bowl of mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and applesauce until well blended. Stir in flour mixture until well blended.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 350 deg. oven 12 to 18 minutes or until well browned. Cool on rack.

Makes about 48 cookies.
