Chicken Fried Steak w/Gravy

4 cubed steaks
1 egg, beaten, mixed with
3 tablespoons water
Flour to dip steaks in
Salt & Pepper
Onion Salt
Garlic Salt (optional)

Dip steaks into egg/water mixture, then coat well with flour. Season with salt, pepper, onion salt and garlic salt, if used. Fry in preheated oil, until brown on both sides. Turn heat to lowest setting and cook for another 30-45 minutes, turning once. (This makes it really tender.) Remove from heat and keep warm while preparing gravy. Serves 4.

CREAM GRAVY for steaks

3 tablespoons meat drippings
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 cups milk

Stir flour and seasonings into hot drippings. Simmer over low heat until bubbly and flour begins to brown slightly. Stir in milk and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened. Makes 2 cups.
