1-1/2 cups butter (may substitute vegetable oil) 3 cups diced apples 2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 eggs 1 cup walnuts 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon cinnamon 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon soda 1/4 teaspoon salt Mix butter, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs and mix well. Add rest of ingredients including apples and nuts. Pour into greased and floured tube or loaf pans. Bake 1-1/2 hours at 350 deg F. Note: You may substitute 2 cups flake coconut or chopped dates for apples. SAUCE FOR RAW APPLE CAKE Mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 stick butter and 1/3 cup milk in small saucepan. Boil for 3 minutes. Pour over cake.
