Mexican Corn Bread

1/2 lb. hamburger
1 onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup milk
1 cup yellow corn meal
3 tablespoons bacon drippings
1 egg
1 can cream style corn
1/2 lb. cheese, grated
2 or 3 jalapeno peppers

Saute meat. Drain and set aside. Mix corn meal, salt, soda, and milk. Add egg, bacon drippings, and corn; mix well. Grease pan. Pour 1/2 of corn bread mixture in pan. Layer meat, onion, peppers, and cheese. Pour other half of corn bread mixture over cheese evenly. Bake at 350 deg F. for 45 minutes.
